What Claire Ate: April 24th, 2016

So yes, the 24th was much more interesting than the 23rd.

Brunch was a rice bowl and cocktails at Double Dragon.

What Claire Ate: April 11th, 2016

Yesterday was much more interesting than the day before, so that was cool.

I started with a latte at Upper Left.

IMG_0353

“Lunch” was eaten around 4:30 and was an English muffin sandwich of leftover steak and some Swiss.

IMG_0357

I also ate a couple bites of ice cream.

IMG_0358

I met a friend at Beermongers for beer (duh). I had two of these sours that tasted like Swedish Fish.

IMG_0360

Supper (I guess we’ll call it that?) was late night happy hour at Little Bird.

Then I went home and had a glass of red wine and went to bed.

The End.

Friday had a lot going on. I didn’t get a picture of the coffee I had, but I did get a picture of the cookie I sampled.

IMG_9691

I got some good news, so lunch was a celebratory one at Double Dragon. There were lots of beverages! And pork belly!

IMG_9692IMG_9697IMG_9694IMG_9693

I met a friend for happy hour at a bar called Church, where we consumed french fries and cocktails.

I had many (two) cups of boring looking coffee, but you know what those look like.

Lunch was a surprisingly reasonable Thai cashew dish with just veggies and no meat.

So sensible!

So sensible!

I washed that down with some diluted cranberry juice.

Around 4:30 I took a break from writing many words to get some pizza and alcohol.

Round one.

Then I went home and wrote some more words.

At 10 pm, Sean and I went to the Little Bird Happy Hour, which is always a treat.

Frites, chicken liver mousse, wine.

I had one of these things when I got home, because someone sent them to me and I like the idea of drinking activated charcoal.

Then I went to sleep.

I had some coffee (not pictured) but didn’t eat anything until 3 pm, when I had some Thai food.

I couldn’t eat it all in one sitting, so I finished it off later with a duck egg.

I also had this clementine.

Later (much later) that night, we went to Little Bird Bistro and took advantage of their awesome late-night dining menu.

Once again, I was delighted with Little Bird. If nothing else, go after 10 pm and get the burger. It’s phenomenal.

Oh, it was a good food day, my friends.

It started out in a fairly typical manner.

Coffee for breakfast.

A somewhat unappealing lunch of tuna salad and kind of stale bagel chips.

But then.

Redacted and I went to dinner at Little Bird Bistro. (The pictures don’t do the beauty of it all justice. Romantic lighting doesn’t make for great photos.)

Everything was superb, but the carrot popover with the Riesling was the best pairing I’ve ever had in my life. Also, if you can make me say “You have got to taste these lentils,” you are doing something correctly.

After dinner, we went to Old Gold for some bourbon and rye.

High West Prairie Reserve Bourbon.

And that concluded a very fine evening.
