What Claire Ate: April 15th, 2016

My first meal was the slaw dog from Double Dragon, along with two Diet Cokes.

Then the bartender threatened to cut me off from Diet Cokes, so I had a beer.

IMG_0412

I went home and did some work, then went back to Double Dragon because I friend wanted to meet there to plan another friend’s birthday party.

I had that same beer again, plus a few other cocktails that I didn’t manage to photograph, because I am terrible at this. Oh, there were also miso gravy fries.

Glory be!

Then a bunch of friends came over and we killed my entire bottle of Kachka’s horseradish vodka.

IMG_0414

Just a lot of these.

IMG_0415

There were some injuries.

Things devolved.

IMG_0417

I didn’t drink any of the beer pictured, but I did eat some of those chips.

And that was Friday.

Then we picked up some snacks and watched some more Boosh, as is our custom.

IMG_4831

I poured sangria-flavored vodka over frozen prosecco, because summer.

IMG_4834

Oh, and I guess I didn’t finish my doughnut the day before. Because I ate the rest of that.

The evening took us to Kachka for horseradish vodka and happy hour eats.

What Claire Ate: April 20th, 2015

So yesterday was 420, which is always kind of annoying because people start freaking out about “stoner food” which to me is just “food.” I don’t mind the actual stoners, it’s more the big corporations trying to capitalize on the subculture. There’s something about the whole “oh aren’t we being winky and clever while slumming it” that comes across as both dorky and a little classist.

I don’t need an excuse to eat a Doritos Locos taco, you know?

On the whole though, I enjoy the recipes and events that come out of it. I appreciate taco-themed pop-ups. I appreciate a good pizza roll recipe, though I could do without the “isn’t it terrifying that Taco Bell sold so many tacos?” rhetoric.

ANYWAY.

I began the morning with a coffee and a La Croix.

Hey little plant!

Hey little plant!

For lunch, I made fish tacos for ROTW.

I ate 2.5.

I ate 2.5.

After eating those tacos and writing ROTW (and doing other random crap), I picked up my friend Chris and headed to Fenrir for their taco pop-up.

We had:

An Orange BAM each.

a shared order of the "chicharachos" (chicarone nachos),

and a housemade Chaco Taco each.

and a housemade Choco Taco each.

The Choco Taco was my favorite part, followed quickly by the chicharachos (spelling?) and the chorizo taco.

So. Good.

So. Good.

We then left in search of more beverages, stopping at Kachka because Chris had not had the horseradish vodka and it is my mission to make sure every human has this experience.

With a pickle back, obvi.

With a pickle back, obvi.

We then drove back to my place and walked over to Beer Bunker with Sean.

I had a cider because I’m trying to stick with this “no beer because you’re allergic to it” thing.

IMG_3700

When I got back home I made a tomato sandwich, because that’s all I want to eat these days.

IMG_3701

I also made Sean some bacon and ate some of it myself.

I had three strips.

Sean then made some rice for himself and I had a small amount with butter.

and garlic salt.

Then I went to sleep.

The end.

I had a lot of coffee but photographed none of it. You know what coffee looks like by now so I’m not super worried.

I had half a bagel with cream cheese.

IMG_3037

I didn’t eat anything else until we met my uncle for supper at Tasty n Alder. Then we ate all of the things.

After supper, we went to Kachka so my uncle and his buddy could try the horseradish vodka. We ordered a flight (horseradish, rosemary, caraway) and some pickle juice. I didn’t get a pic of all that , but I did get this pic of a sign in the bathroom. I hope that makes it up to you.

IMG_3045

My uncle had to get back to his hotel (he had a very early flight) so we dropped him back at his car and made our way home. We stopped off at ABV to grab a beer, and Sean ordered a pizza because he’s just constantly hungry from running in the mountains or something.
