What Claire Ate: April 25th, 2015

Saturday was glorious.

We decided to bike down to the farmer’s market, and split a banana as a quick “breakfast.”

The six miles to the market was surprisingly pleasant — Portland is so great for biking!! — and when we arrived I had a strawberry lemonade.

Refreshing!

Refreshing!

After grabbing eggs, lettuce, and potatoes, we headed back, stopping for a quick tasting at Eastside Distillery.

Their spiced rum is surprisingly delightful.

We then continued on our trek back home, but stopped again at Laurelhurst Market for sandwiches.

I also drank this.

I also drank this.

I ordered a cold sandwich and Sean ordered a hot. We ended up doing a little exchange program.

My whole sandwich.

My whole sandwich.

After the swap.

After the swap.

Mine was pretty good, but Sean’s was this delightful symphony of pastrami, pickled things, grainy mustard, and fried onions. IT WAS HEAVENLY.

After the sandwiches were consumed, we completed the last bit of our trip, finally making it home.

We then drove to Hillsboro to get some more stuff and hang out with some friends. We went to a beer bar but I didn’t have any beer which was weird.

Later that night I had some leftover spaghetti with cheese melted on it.

Struggle plate, tbh.

Also more chips (with labneh).

Then I finished the last bit of sour tape.

Byyyyyye.

Byyyyyye.

We then went to our local theater for a showing of Close Encounters of the Third Kind. I had some wine and popcorn, but it was very dark.

See?

See?

The popcorn came out better.

The movie was quite good, but it was punctuated by some drunk dude yelling “NERD” at Bob Balaban and then spilling his drink and leaving.

    • The outburst occurred when Bob said “before I was hired to speak French, I studied maps.”

It was pretty funny because dude, YOU’RE the one watching an old sci fi movie in the theater. Same dude also applauded when Spielberg’s name came up during the credits.
